Town's local derby ended all square at 0-0 with Springhead.
Chances were at a premium with both defences dominant and both
sets of mid field players cancelling each other out in an exciting
encounter.
Steve Birchenall in the Town goal kept a fourth clean sheet in
five games as Royton stretched their unbeaten tag to nine
games.
Springhead had the better of the chances with two rasping shots
from Ferguson early in the game.
Town lost inspirational striker Michael Moss in the second
minute which hampered Town's pre match plans.
Royton managed to put the ball into the 18 yard box on numerous
occasions to no avail as Springhead's defence looked strong as a
unit .
Town's defence were rarely troubled as most of the action
centred in the mid field area .
Springhead looked eager for all three points in the second half
and over the ninety minutes looked the better team , but Town held
firm .
